Ron Paul tells it like it is, no sugar-coating!

21st century politicians, like Hillary Clinton, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney and John Edwards tend to cater to the crowds. Triangulation has become the dirty word of the century, yet… not all politicians subscribe to such political strategy.
Some politicians, like Ron Paul will say what they think and aren’t going to apologize for it:
Gotta love Ron Paul, he’s the man! This is what happens when politicians are honest and not afraid to stand up for what they believe in.
Is it time to reinstitute the draft?
November 12, 2007 | Filed Under Activism, Political | Leave a Comment
We keep hearing all of this nonsense about “winning the war in Iraq”, wake the heck up, the brutality of war only has one outcome: everyone loses.

I’d definitely be pro-draft, if it means we can ship our idiot President off to put his money where his mouth is at. In fact, lets send every “patriot” in with guns and minimal armor and funding so that they can see what it’s like to be a ‘real’ American. Our soldiers are dying Americans, but no one seems to care, they are dying for a cause that cannot be controlled by ambitious politicians. As long as we continue to promote intolerant views on the world stage and intervene in the affairs of other nations, we will continue to breed terrorists that will gladly blow themselves up. In their demented views, they see killing us as a ‘victory’ and the satisfaction that terrorists gain is about as satisfactory as the ‘win’ we are going to get when we declare “victory” in Iraq.
56% of citizens aren’t proud of America

More than half of Americans—56 percent—say they’re not proud of the country’s leaders. Two thirds and more say the country is in a leadership crisis. Nearly three quarters say the nation will decline without better leadership.
Phony Soldiers come out of the woodworks

Rush Limbaugh enraged veterans everywhere with his comments on “phony soldiers” that liberals like to find to make their points.
What I don’t get about the war on terror is how so many Americans are so eager to exploit “the troops” ™ for political gain.
The extent to which our pundits and ‘patriotism’ take us in order to ‘win’ a war of rhetoric is disturbing. I’d wager everything I own that the majority of American soldiers are Democrats or benefit primarily from policies put forth by Democrats. For Republicans to go out and seize “the troops” because they happily forfeit their futures in exchange for ’security’ and politics is despicable. Next time a “patriot” tells you to support the troops in response to a political question or argument, tell them to go F themselves.
the Nexus of Politics and Terror
November 11, 2007 | Filed Under Elections, Government, News, War | Leave a Comment
Politics, particularly on the GOP side has gained a nasty reputation for being propelled by ‘fear-driven’ propaganda. If I hadn’t heard it with my own ears, I might call the claim of ‘fear-driven’ politics a false claim or one based on propaganda itself. However, our President and current GOP leaders who are front-runners in the primary nomination, make no apologies for using the kind of rhetoric that has pinned the GOP in a corner over the Bush years.
What is most fascinating to me, is that they don’t see how detrimental this “fear-mongering” is. While, I recognize that “fear-mongering” is a propaganda driven statement, what they do is frighten Americans into submission. The problem that they seem oblivious to, is that people who have their backs against the walls (un-American liberal pussies) are in a fight or flight situation. If you take a look at the liberal movement right now, they are in fight mode.. they aren’t running away from anything no matter what GOP strategists would have you believe.
In the eyes of most liberals, the GOP is a bigger threat to America than any 3rd world terrorist ever was. They believe, and I to a certain extent, that the far right has harmed our nation far more than Al Qaida did on September 11th. It seems like an extreme and irrational statement to be made and even more difficult to defend, but the current ‘feel’ in America is that the GOP is the party of ‘evil’ and anything or anyone would make for a better candidate than another Bush-clone. Oddly enough, Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney have done their best impressions of President Bush and are trying to run on the ‘fear-driven’ agenda that has brought the GOP to its knees.
Not this time, my Republican friends, not this time.
Remember when Keith Olbermann…

Remember when Keith Olbermann called for the President’s resignation?
If you’re a conservative, you’ve probably never bothered sitting through a Keith Olbermann segment and at the time there were millions of accusations flying across the Internet it was hard to keep up with all of the allegations. Looking back, I’d have to say that Keith Olbermann’s special segment on the President’s failures and a demand for his resignation was a pretty powerful piece. It isn’t just because it is Keith Olbermann, “a sports caster pretending to be a political pundit”, as Fox News clowns call him. What Keith Olbermann did and said is on the minds of millions, if not hundreds of millions of Americans.
Lets face it, the President is only hanging on to the support of the strictly partisan conservatives, and even they are wavering in their loyalty to the President at this juncture. The only thing holding most people’s confidence in the President is their pride and fear that a liberal might become our next President.
Republicans hate black people

at least, that’s the word on the streets…
NAACP Presidential Debate, Republican representation was pathetic!
Does it mean they aren’t interested in the ‘plight’ of African Americans in a WASP controlled America or is it a thing of principle? Traditional conservatives would argue that they don’t believe in making distinctions based on race, and groups like the NAACP do just that.
However, today’s Republicans are a far cry from Republicans that rallied around Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater. As Ron Paul likes to say, “the Republican party has lost its way…,” I’d have to agree with his assessment. In the 21st century, if you are interested in limited government and fiscal responsibility, you’d probably be better off electing a “tax and spend” liberal.
Killing in the name of God is “Evil”
November 11, 2007 | Filed Under Political, Religion | Leave a Comment
It would be difficult to argue that there is a single greater evil than the institutions that drive man to fight in the name of God.
A few sources of evil might come close: greedy corporations that choose profits over preserving our humanity, selfish people who choose personal wealth over the well-being of the greater good, successful people who do nothing to give back to their communities, and people who happily pollute the planet because they know their lifespans are finite and likely to end before the consequences of their actions will occur.
Despite the wealth of rude and selfish people that inhabit the earth, none of these selfish acts lead to death, violence, and murder. There is an argument to be made that corporations that mine oil, minerals and other resources help push agendas of evil in order to make more profit, but none of these “evils” promote intolerance, hate, death and destruction the way the institutions of Religion do. In the interest of full disclosure, let me say that I am a former-catholic, but I currently identify with Christianity.
My reasons for embracing religion in my life have more to do with the positive effects that it has on people, rather than the negative. Some examples include: spreading of good deeds, helping others, but NOT “fighting evil” and imposing views of a “Christian” God on others who are unwilling to listen. I am opposed to the direction of religion because I believe we should all live and let live. This God that we all struggle to ‘find’ and understand, is no different in New York than it is in Texas or California. The God that we love to kill for in North America, is no different than the God that Islamic fundamentalist nuts are blowing themselves up for.
I refuse to believe that because someone was born on the other side of the planet, under a different ‘recorded’ history and interpretation of religious texts, that they somehow subscribe to some false God. If Religion didn’t exist, what would the world be like?
Would America be morally bankrupt, would citizens of the world not know ‘right from wrong’?
It’s sad to say, but this world would be better off if we didn’t have institutions driven by overzealous men and women quick to judge, who have no qualms with killing people who are ‘different’. What makes humans special is the ability to ‘reason’ and it supposedly separates us from the animals, although monkeys are known to exhibit similar characteristics…. Regardless, we know right from wrong and we should be able to see the error of our ways, if we simply choose to listen. We reason and embrace morality, not because of religion, but because of our interactions with one another and our understanding of ‘our place in the universe.’
We’ve all experienced or read about the evils of War at some point in our lives, our parents teach us how to properly interact with children at school and people in life. Morals are not a product of religion, but a product of humanity and it is unfortunate that people of the world have decided to tie morality to religion. Fighting in the name of religion and God is responsible for more bloodshed than any other entity, group or ‘evil’ people in history. If we could all step back and see how far we’ve diverted from the messages of Jesus that we all claim to be experts on, our reflection might lead us to see how evil we’ve all become. Christians Evangelicals and leaders of religious movements throughout the world are far removed from the bible, Jesus, and the teachings of our biblical ancestors.
Remember, no matter how you justify your actions and no matter what you say to convince others that you are messengers of God, good, and the American way… it doesn’t change the fact that you are inherently evil and YOU are not the final arbiter of Justice.
