the Fox News and Rudy Giuliani Affair

There’s a possibility that Fox News is involved in illegally obstructing an investigation in order to preserve their favorite presidential candidate’s (Rudy Giuliani) reputation.
In case you missed the story, here’s an excerpt from AOL News (AP article):
NEW YORK (AP) - One-time book publishing powerhouse Judith Regan filed a $100 million defamation lawsuit Tuesday saying her former employers asked her to lie to federal investigators about Bernard Kerik, the former police commissioner who was once her lover, and tried to destroy her reputation.
Regan, who worked for HarperCollins Publishers LLC, said the smear campaign stems from her past intimate relationship with Kerik, who was police commissioner under former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, and from the political agenda of News Corp., the parent company of HarperCollins.
Regan, 54, says in court papers that News Corp.’s political agenda centers on Giuliani’s presidential ambitions. It was Giuliani, a Republican who appointed Kerik police commissioner and recommended him to President Bush for secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
Kerik had to withdraw his nomination after it was revealed he had not reported the wages he paid to a nanny.
Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and Surveillance

You know, Senator Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, they get a lot of hell for not standing up against the President. Lately, they’ve just seemed like a part of the problem rather than the solution to problems that plague our government. Here’s an ACLU advertisement that rightly represents what the majority of Americans think about Democrats and their support for President Bush.
There is no excuse for continuing to be weak on President Bush. If you’re going to be tough on terrorism, then you have to be tough on the president because the issue of dying civil liberties and diminished constitutional protection for Americans is a big one. Our leaders, however, are too afraid to stand up to the President. They have bought into the propaganda that if they stand up against the corruption, they are doing the bidding of the “evil lefty blog-o-sphere”. Now, whether or not they are influenced by smut they read online, the fact of the matter is that they were elected to do a job. Stand up for Americans or get out of the way, because sitting around and doing nothing is a waste of everyone’s time.
Stop being afraid of the GOP, start acting with your hearts and souls, right now Congress has sold its soul and it is time to reclaim those lost souls.
Waterboarding is torture, says Harry Reid

“Any human being would admit anything under those circumstances.”
Harry Reid’s suggests that a person on the verge of death will admit to anything, even when it isn’t true.
This argument is used to support arguments against coercion and duress by law enforcement officials during their investigations. The argument counter to Reid’s assertion, of course is the Jack Bauer scenario. If a terrorist has information that would lead to saving the lives of thousands of people, then would “torture” be acceptable? I’m as liberal as the next guy, and I’d have to say that under a life or death situation, torture does and will happen. We should allow the law to play this out, instead of accepting ‘torture’ as a tactic, deny it under the Constitution as it previously has.
IF the Jack Bauer scenario actually happens, then the agent will likely make a moral judgment, thus, providing a defense in a court of law. What this does is makes sure that we preserve the integrity of our constitution, and continue supporting our “innocent, until proven guilty” system of jurisprudence. To remove torture from the ‘debate’ and insist that it is criminal, as it should be, would remove the heinous activity of torturing individuals and retrieving information under duress from among a laundry list of reasons for foreigners to hate the United States. This would go a long ways in restoring our reputation and significance in the world as a major political and international player.
Reid makes a very important point, historically, the United States has executed and jailed people for committing the crime of water boarding. During the Nuremberg trials, the use of torture was an issue that was not escaped by propaganda and clever political rhetoric. If President Bush were ‘on the other side’ of the Nuremberg debate, he would have surely been hanged for his sponsoring of such illegal activity (if it is proved that he is indeed guilty of promoting torture and terrorism to achieve political ends).

Don’t ask me why, but I was doing a search for “Tinfoil Sombrero” and I found an interesting picture of Hillary Clinton. Is this the leader of the Tinfoil hat brigade and future President of the United States?

I have to say, Hillary Clinton gets a lot of hell for being the strong leader and political genius that she is, but Tinfoil hat? Can’t say I’m a fan of her politics, she’s no Bill Clinton, but she’ll make a great Republican president, I’m sure.

Anti-Bush sign returns complaints of treason, sedition, and possible sanctions are being considered for this vile act of un-American activity.

Liberal artwork, “Darth Vader” exhibit

Dick Cheney will forever be remembered as “Darth Vader”. The media and comics have labeled him and even President Bush jokes about it when they are together. It’s obvious that the insult doesn’t phase him, but it’s a pretty strange one to embrace considering the platform of “freedom, democracy” and all the other feel-good propaganda that he likes to spread.

a day in Iraq funds 34,904 scholarships

Interesting strategy has arisen out of the Iraq War. We all know what an unpopular war it has become, now Democrats are trying to show how much it is affecting our country in ways beyond lost lives and taxes. A single day in Iraq is enough to fund almost thirty five thousand educational scholarships.
President Bush is constantly reminding citizens that we need to make a sacrifice, “for the troops”. He tells us that we are in no position to spend money frivolously and he wants to get the nation back into fiscal responsibility. Yet, at the same time, government contractors who are buddies of the administration are making off like bandits. In a way, you could argue that the administration is stealing from tax payers and the very troops they claim to support. He takes our money and gives it to his friends and to corporations like Haliburton and Blackwater, both of which are up to no good. Democrats used the same strategy during SCHIP, but it didn’t work out as the Republicans in congress are more interested in partisan loyalty than helping Democrats ’succeed’ by any measurement.

Al Qaida will murder your grandma and rape your dog if don’t vote for Rudy Giuliani!
What a tool, I don’t understand the fascination with this man in some circles. He represents everything that is wrong with America and happens to be the GOP’s best hope at making it into the White House? Oh, how our standards have fallen.
